From literacy and practical training to university scholarships, education gives people the tools to shape their own communities.
When conflict interrupts learning
Displacement can separate children from their schools as well as their homes. Across eastern DRC, fighting has damaged learning spaces, forced closures and made journeys to school unsafe. For older students, another obstacle remains even when a university place is within reach: the cost of continuing.

Why it matters
A missed year can become a lost opportunity to qualify for work or serve others. Communities need teachers, organizers, scientists and engineers who understand local life and can keep essential services working.
What PALPER does
Our education priorities include literacy, practical skills and opportunities for women and young people to take a greater role in community life. Professional training and exchanges also help our team learn from others and strengthen the skills needed to deliver local projects.
University study opens another path into community service. Alongside financial support, mentoring and practical water experience help students connect what they learn with the needs around them.
What more we can do
Further support can help students continue from one academic year to the next and strengthen the link between training and field experience. We welcome partners who can contribute scholarships, scientific mentoring or practical learning opportunities alongside our local team.
